Vase Project

During this four-week creative course, children will experience the complete process of developing a project - from the first sketch to a finished handmade object. Each child will design and create a decorative vase using sheets of wool felt.

The purpose of the course goes beyond learning how to sew. Children will discover how to develop an idea, make creative decisions, plan each stage of their work, and bring their own design to life. The finished project will be a three-dimensional (3D) decorative felt vase. Step by step, they will gain the confidence to work more independently and see a project through from beginning to end.

This course offers children the space to experiment, solve small creative challenges, and work at their own pace. The emphasis is not on making identical objects, but on helping every child create something personal and feel proud of the process behind it.

The Four-Week Creative Journey

1. Week 1Developing the Idea

   Every project begins with an idea. Children will explore the shape, colours, character, and decorative details of their vase. They will then draw their design and create a personal template that will guide them throughout the following lessons.

2. Week 2Turning the Design into Shapes

   Using their drawings as templates, the children will transfer the design onto sheets of wool felt. They will carefully cut out the main parts of the vase, along with the decorative elements they have imagined.

3. Week 3Adding the Details

   The children will begin sewing the decorative pieces onto their vase. They will learn how individual elements, colours, and textures come together to form a harmonious design.

4. Week 4Bringing Everything Together

   In the final lesson, the children will join the main sections, complete the sewing, and add the finishing touches. At the end of the course, each child will take home a unique felt vase created from their own original idea.
